Vol. 511 No. 3

Written Answers. - School Accommodation.

Michael D. Higgins

Question:

388 Mr. M. Higgins asked the Minister for Education and Science the immediate steps, if any, he will take to ensure that students of Castleknock community college can occupy the new extension to the college as promised by him; and if his attention has been drawn to the fact that students have been in temporary prefab accommodation for longer than was agreed by him. [24382/99]

Phase 2(A) of the extension project at Castleknock community college is practically complete. It is expected that the additional accommodation will be available for occupation shortly.

The completion of this project fell behind schedule initially due to the scaffolders' strike and latterly due to a delay in connecting electricity, both of which were outside of the control of either the design team or County Dublin Vocational Education Committee.

The Deputy will appreciate that this important project has received and will continue to receive a high prioritisation within my Department.
