389 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Education and Science if an application by a person (details supplied) in County Carlow for a third level grant from Carlow County Council will be investigated with a view to expediting it. [24383/99]
From inquiries made with Carlow County Council, I understand that, based on the reckonable income of the candidate's parents, she has been awarded a part maintenance grant under the 1999 higher education grants scheme. I further understand that payment will issue this week and that the delay in processing the application arose from the county council requiring additional information from the candidate in order to finalise the processing of the application.
