Vol. 512 No. 3

Written Answers - Dublin Bus.

John Gormley

Question:

65 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the role, if any, she will play in encouraging better industrial relations in Dublin Bus; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [25832/99]

I always take whatever opportunities are available to me to encourage good industrial relations within the semi-State bodies which fall under my remit, including Dublin Bus.

I have kept myself informed with regard to industrial relations issues in Dublin Bus. However, the resolution of industrial relations difficulties within the company is a matter, in the first instance, for the management and the trade unions concerned, assisted, when necessary, by the industrial relations machinery of the State.

I understand that, on the recommendation of the Labour Court, an investigation by an independent third party is currently under way into the pay and conditions of bus drivers in Dublin Bus.
