Vol. 512 No. 3

Written Answers - Compensation Payments.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

161 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development when brucellosis compensation payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Kerry; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25984/99]

The holding of the person referred to was restricted on 24 June 1999 following the disclosure of two reactor animals at a brucellosis test carried out on 15 June 1999. A further blood test for brucellosis on the herd on 16 September 1999 disclosed further reactors and the herdowner agreed to a partial depopulation.

On 7 October 1999 the herdowner was requested by the local district veterinary office (DVO), in connection with the determination of grant category, to provide clarifications in respect of incomplete details received. The necessary clarifications were received by the DVO on 12 November 1999.

Appropriate reactor and depopulation grants have been processed and payment will issue very shortly.
