The Deputy will be aware that appropriate treatment in appropriate settings by appropriate health professionals is the cornerstone of effective health care.
Shared protocols have long existed between primary and secondary care health providers, particularly in the area of general practice and are deep rooted in the provision of health services generally.
Efforts to enhance these relationships are a feature of the continuing development of our health services in line with this well established tradition.
