Vol. 512 No. 6

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

Michael Noonan

Question:

335 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that the Centre for Independent Living, Limerick, has had to discontinue a disabled taxi service due to lack of funding; if sufficient funds will be allocated to the centre to maintain and improve existing services; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26702/99]

My Department has no details of difficulties experienced by the Centre for Independent Living, Limerick, in the operation of the service to which the Deputy refers. My Department has no funds at its disposal which could be used to provide financial assistance for private or voluntary alternative transport systems for people with disabilities, other than the special allocation made in the budget for Vantastic.
