352 Ms M. McGennis asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the proposals, if any, he has for the future of Kilmainham courthouse; if it will continue in use as a courthouse; and, if not, the proposed date for the closure. [26834/99]
The Courts Service was established on 9 November 1999. One of the functions of the service is to provide, maintain and manage court buildings. I have been informed by the courts service that there are no plans at present for the refurbishment of Kilmainham Courthouse.
I also understand that the Courts Service is drawing up a five to seven year programme to modernise-refurbish court buildings and Kilmainham Courthouse will be considered as part of this programme.
