I take it that what the Deputy is referring to in his question is that there will be adequate post-primary accommodation available in the Lucan area to cater for output from the Lucan Educate Together national school. The position is that the number of pupils leaving Lucan Educate Together national school in the coming years will be quite small. There are currently four existing post-primary schools catering for pupils from the Lucan-Balgaddy area and it is expected that these schools will cater for the demand from the multi-denominational school for the foreseeable future.
My Department has no plans at present to build an additional school in the Lucan area. However, in accordance with normal practice for major urban areas, the situation in Lucan will continue to be monitored to ensure that all pupils seeking a post-primary school place can be facilitated.
