Question:

109 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Agriculture, Food and Rural Development the funding allocations made to the Irish Racing Board in the past three years; the date on which moneys were given; the amount, purpose and source in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26584/99]

The amounts of grant in aid provided to the Irish Horseracing Authority over the last three years were:

Grant-in-aid to the Irish Horseracing Authority is used for the general development of the horseracing industry in the context of the Authority's strategic development plan covering all aspects of the sector. These moneys are paid out of the Agriculture, Food and Rural Development Vote – Subhead H3. The payments are issued in tranches usually on a quarterly basis each year or as required.
