Vol. 512 No. 7

Written Answers. - Non-consultant Hospital Doctors.

Bernard Allen

Question:

178 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the discussions, if any, his Department has had with the Southern Health Board regarding a significant and ground breaking deal for non-consultant hospital doctors where they cover a colleague's on-call commitment; the details of the agreement; and the national significance of the agreement. [27324/99]

Non-consultant hospital doctors are employed on standard terms and conditions of employment negotiated by the Health Services Employers Agency and the Irish Medical Organisation. Implementation of these agreements is a matter for each individual health service employer. I am not aware of any agreement by the Southern Health Board to depart from these arrangements.
