Vol. 512 No. 7

Written Answers. - General Practice Policy Documents.

Bernard Allen

Question:

179 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children the discussions, if any, his Depart ment has had with the Irish Medical Organisation and the Irish Council of General Practitioners regarding the policy document being drafted to radically change general practice; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27325/99]

Discussions take place, on an ongoing basis, between my Department and the Irish College of General Practitioners and the Irish Medical Organisation on a range of policy issues relating to the development of general practice in Ireland. There has, as yet, been no specific request from the two bodies referred to for discussions in relation to the recent general practice policy documents prepared by them. I would add that my officials will, of course, facilitate in the normal way such a request if one is made.
