Vol. 512 No. 7

Written Answers. - Special Educational Needs.

Dan Neville

Question:

219 Mr. Neville asked the Minister for Education and Science when child care assistance will be paid to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [27244/99]

My Department sanctioned the allocation of a child care assistant post to cater for the needs of a special needs pupil attending a school within County Limerick VEC for the 1997-98 and 1998-99 school years. It is understood that the person referred to by the Deputy was appointed to that post.

My Department recently sanctioned the continuation of the allocation for the current school year. The VEC has been requested to make arrangements to remunerate the child care assistant without delay.
