Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Postal Museum.

Martin Brady

Question:

208 Mr. M. Brady asked the Minister for Public Enterprise the encouragement, practical support and assistance she will give An Post to establish a postal museum in view of the chief executive's commitment on 25 November 1999 to the Joint Committee on Public Enterprise and Transport to establish this long awaited cultural and historical repository; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [1895/00]

I have not received a request for assistance of any nature from An Post to establish a postal museum. Clearly, the collection and arrangement of material for this purpose is a long-term task for An Post. I understand that following the chief executive's commitment to the Joint Committee on Public Enterprise and Transport, the company, in conjunction with the unions, has formed a committee to consider ideas for furthering the project.
