Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Jim Higgins

Question:

531 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will approve the next phase of the Killala sewerage scheme, County Mayo, in view of the fact that Mayo County Council has forwarded the marine outfall survey to his Department. [1361/00]

Michael Ring

Question:

543 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the position in relation to the Killala sewerage scheme, County Mayo, in view of the fact that the marine survey has been completed and submitted with a recommendation regarding the suitability of the proposed outfall location; and when funding will be sanctioned for this scheme. [1524/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 531 and 543 together.

This scheme has been approved to advance through planning. The preliminary report is under consideration in my Department, following receipt of the results of the marine outfall survey in December, and will be dealt with as quickly as possible. As the scheme has not advanced sufficiently to go to construction the issue of funding does not yet arise.
