Vol. 513 No. 1

Written Answers. - Institutes of Technology.

John Gormley

Question:

707 Mr. Gormley asked the Minister for Education and Science if his attention has been drawn to the concern expressed by a person (details supplied) in relation to facilities in the Dublin Institute of Technology; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [1085/00]

My attention has been drawn to the concern expressed by the person in question regarding the facilities available for students attending the Dublin Institute of Technology. I wish to assure the Deputy that the Government is determined to ensure that the level of facilities for Dublin Institute of Technology students improve and, accordingly, the Government recently decided to sanction the purchase of 65 acres of the Eastern Health Board's property at Grangegorman for Dublin Institute of Technology.

The development of this property will provide Dublin Institute of Technology and its students with a campus and facilities on a par with any other third level institution.
