Vol. 513 No. 3

Written Answers. - Taxi Licences.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

220 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 12, who holds a position of cosie driver, had over 400 points in the scheme for a taxi and cosied for nearly four years, will be considered for one of the new taxi plates to be issued in view of his history and commitment. [2307/00]

The Government approved measures provide for the grant of a large number of new taxi licences for the Dublin taximeter area including some 500 licences to be granted to applicants under the current points assessment system. The allocation of these licences will be in accordance with a scheme which I will finalise shortly.

The assessment of applications for licences to be granted under the points assessment system and the general administration of the scheme will be matters for Dublin Corporation.
