Vol. 513 No. 3

Written Answers. - County Council Meal Allowances.

Jimmy Deenihan

Question:

221 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will increase the meal allowance for county council workers from £1.30; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [2309/00]

I presume the Deputy is referring to the eating-on-site allow ance paid to craftworkers and general operatives under the terms of an agreement between the local Government management services board and the local authority staff interests for which a national rate of £1.13 per day applies.

Any change to this allowance is appropriately dealt with in the context of the relevant industrial relations machinery.
