Written Answers. - Inland Waterways.

Tony Gregory

Question:

267 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands if she will request Dúchas to replace protective bollards along the Royal Canal, Cross Guns Bridge, Dublin 7, leading down into Blacquire Villas and to repair the side parapet wall in view of the fact this route is very heavily used by traffic and is hazardous. [2625/00]

The replacement of the protective bollards and the repair to the side parapet wall are a matter for Dublin Corporation and I have no function in the matter.

Willie Penrose

Question:

268 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage, Gaeltacht and the Islands the timescale for the expenditure of £12 million allocated for further works to restore the Royal Canal to full manageability from Abbeyshule to Clondra, County Longford; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [2626/00]

Under the National Development Plan, 2000-2006, £10 million to £12 million has been provided to complete the restoration of the Royal Canal to Clondra. This expenditure will be phased over the period of the plan.
