Vol. 513 No. 3

Written Answers. - Extradition Legislation.

Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin

Question:

288 Caoimhghín Ó Caoláin asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has received a report from the Garda on the arrest of a person (details supplied) on foot of extradition warrants; and the legislation, if any, he will bring forward relating to political extradition to the Six Counties or Britain. [2676/00]

As the case in question is before the High Court at present, it would not be appropriate for me to make any comment in relation to it. In relation to the matter of a general nature raised in the second part of the Deputy's question, I have no plans to change the arrangements, provided for by Part III of the Extradition Acts, 1965 to 1994, for the rendition of persons accused or convicted of offences committed in Britain or Northern Ireland.
