I propose to take Questions Nos. 97 and 101 together.
The recently announced Government decision on the establishment of an Academy for the Performing Arts, reflected the outcome of extensive research and consultation on this very complex issue, by the interdepartmental working group which reported in 1998 on the feasibility and scope of the academy. Subsequently a research paper was produced by Dr. Peter Renshaw, of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London, who accessed many sources and sectors in preparing his recommendations. I understand that he had meetings with representatives of the Dublin Institute of Technology.
