Vol. 513 No. 5

Written Answers. - Special Amenities Area Order.

Thomas P. Broughan

Question:

56 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he will make his inspector's report on the Howth special amenities area order available as soon as possible; and if he will confirm the order in its entirety as proposed by Fingal County Council and his predecessor. [2899/00]

Fingal County Council submitted the Howth special amenity area order to me for confirmation on 25 March 1999. As there were objections to this order, I directed that a public local inquiry be held, as required under section 43 of the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1963.

The inquiry was held over nine days from 1 September to 15 September 1999 and following consideration of the inspector's report, which is close to finalisation, I will decide as soon as possible whether to confirm the order with or without modifications or refuse to confirm it.

The inspector's report will be available when the order has been determined.
