Written Answers. - St. Patrick's Day Celebrations.

Enda Kenny

Question:

191 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if the Government will be represented on the occasion of the celebrations of St. Patrick's Day in Belfast; if an invitation has been received by the Government from the carnival committee concerned; if so, if the Government has considered this matter; if the Government will provide financial assistance for the committee's proposals in view of the refusal of Belfast City Council to provide any moneys for the occasion; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3281/00]

An invitation has been received by a member of the Government to attend the St. Patrick's Day carnival in Belfast and a reply will issue as soon as the matter has been considered.

I can confirm that an application for financial assistance has been received from the carnival committee and is at present under consideration.
