Question:

183 Mr. Kenny asked the Minister for Health and Children his views on whether an area such as Knock, County Mayo, which is a centre for pil grimage, should have a pharmacy available to the community in view of the community pharmacy contractors agreement in S.I No. 152 of 1996; if he will consider that the weekly influx of people can be set aside in this area in view of the regulations governing these matters; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3753/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 182 and 183 together.

I have received an appeal under article 10 of the Health (Community Pharmacy Contractor Agreement) Regulations, 1996, in regard to a decision by the chief executive officer of the Western Health Board to refuse an application for a community pharmacy contractor agreement at Knock, County Mayo. The appeal is under consideration at present and the Deputy will appreciate that it would not be appropriate for me to comment further at this stage.
