Vol. 514 No. 1

Written Answers. - Social Services.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

184 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Health and Children if a comprehensive examination of the social and financial needs of persons (details supplied) in Dublin 12 will be carried out in order that they are given every support needed to resolve their difficulties. [3763/00]

The provision of services to eligible persons in Dublin is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to investigate the position in relation to the aspects of this case which come within the board's remit and to reply directly to the Deputy as soon as possible.

Entitlement to social welfare benefits is a matter for the Department of Social Community and Family Affairs and I have forwarded details of the case to that Department for examination and direct reply to the Deputy.
