Question:

192 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government the number of driving licence applications in Kildare in 1998 and 1999; the number of applications to date on the waiting list for tests for Kildare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [3685/00]

While information on the number of driving licence applications made in Kildare in 1998 and 1999 is not available, the number of driving licences issued by Kildare County Council in those years is set out in the following table.

There are 3,709 applicants for a driving test on the waiting list for Naas driving test centre. Of these approximately 880 have been given test appointments and a further 651 have indicated that they are not currently available to be tested.
