Vol. 514 No. 4

Written Answers. - Northern Ireland Issues.

Billy Timmins

Question:

39 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he has protested to Sinn Féin regarding reported intimidatory tactics being carried out by the organisation in Northern Ireland on an ongoing basis. [1736/00]

In the Good Friday Agreement's opening declaration of support, the parties to the Agreement reaffirmed their total and absolute commitment to exclusively democratic and peaceful means. In the Agreement also, the parties "affirm their commitment to the mutual respect, the civil rights and the religious liberties of everyone in the com munity". The Government deplores all attempts to intimidate individuals or groups as they go about their daily business, and have made clear that they expect all parties to live up fully to their obligations under the Agreement.
