Vol. 514 No. 5

Written Answers. - Health Services.

Willie Penrose

Question:

169 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he will take to ensure that chiropody services provided for diabetics at the Midland Health Board clinic in Mullingar, County Westmeath, will be upgraded immediately in view of the fact the service is available on only one day per month which is not adequate to cater for the number of diabetic patients who visit the clinic on an outpatient basis. [4777/00]

The provision of health services in the Midland Health Board area is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. I have asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate the matter and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
