Vol. 514 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fishing Regulations.

David Stanton

Question:

132 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources further to Parliamentary Question No. 141 of 5 October 1999, the bodies which were circulated with the draft Fishing Vessel (Sea Angling) Regulations, 1999, which have returned comments or observations; if a deadline exists for receipt in this regard; when he will publish the final regulations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [5132/00]

Written submissions on the draft Fishing Vessel (Sea Angling) Regulations were received from the Central Fisheries Board, Bord Fáilte, the Irish Federation of Sea Anglers, the Shannon Regional Fisheries Board and the Sovereigns Boat Charters Limited. Comments were also received on foot of two recent seminars. The consultation process is now completed.

Detailed comments were received and these need to be examined and taken on board in the final draft of the regulations. When this task is completed the draft regulations will be forwarded to the parliamentary draftsman's office for settling.

The final regulations will be published once they have been enacted.
