Question:152 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Finance the estimated amount which the Exchequer will receive as a result of the increase of 50p in the price of cigarettes. [6668/00]

In my budget speech I indicated that the 50p increase in the price of cigarettes would raise £132 million in 2000. As the increase applied from budget night, as is usual with excise changes, £2.0 million arose in 1999.
