Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Orthodontic Service.

Billy Timmins

Question:

162 Mr. Timmins asked the Minister for Health and Children the length of time a person (details supplied) in County Carlow has been on the Eastern Health Board waiting list for orthodontic treatment; when she will receive this treatment; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [6557/00]

I understand that the child in question attended national school in Kiltegan, County Wicklow.

The provision of orthodontic treatment to children in respect of defects noticed at health examinations carried out while attending national school in County Wicklow is the statutory responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority.
I have asked the regional chief executive of the Eastern Regional Health Authority to investigate the position in relation to this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.
