Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Architectural Heritage.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

226 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the proposals, if any, she has for 2000 in regard to St. John's Castle, Dungarvan, County Waterford; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6694/00]

Works have commenced at St. John's Castle, Dungarvan. These works include the restoration of the barrack building for use as a visitors reception and for the provision of exhibition and guide facilities. Conservation works are also in progress on the 13th century shell keep and enclosing bawn wall. It is expected that the works will be completed and the site opened to visitors in 2001.
