Vol. 515 No. 6

Written Answers. - Native Americans.

Trevor Sargent

Question:

94 Mr. Sargent asked the Minister for Foreign Affairs if he will consider issuing an apology as a mark of this millennium to native Americans for any role Irish immigrants to the United States played in their subjugation; and if he will financially support some community projects for native Americans, particularly in south Dakota. [7059/00]

I am not aware of any developments or circumstances which would indicate that a statement of this nature would be appropriate, or in any way helpful, at this time. There are no requests to provide support to native American projects under consideration in my Department.
