Vol. 516 No. 2

Written Answers. - Departmental Funding.

Phil Hogan

Question:

145 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will review the financial assistance being given to a school (details supplied) in County Carlow; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7315/00]

My Department recently received correspondence from a member of the board of management in relation to the financial circumstances of the school referred to by the Deputy. This correspondence was considered by officials within the primary administration section of my Department in Athlone and a response has issued to the school board of management.

The Department's response outlined the general position in relation to State funding towards the running costs of primary schools, and referred to the responsibilities of boards of management in the area of financial procedures. Should the school authorities wish to submit details of their financial concerns, I will ensure that such a submission will receive full consideration in my Department.
