Vol. 516 No. 2

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Michael Ring

Question:

146 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Education and Science when a new five classroom building will be built for a school (details supplied) in County Mayo in view of the fact it was approved some time ago; the position in this regard; the status of the project; when the construction phase will commence; and if the design for a five classroom building has been altered. [7316/00]

My Department has initiated architectural planning for the construction of a new school to replace the current prefabricated accommodation for the school in question. Planning permission and fire certificates have been secured.

However, the accommodation brief is being reviewed having regard to existing enrolment trends at the school. A decision on the accommodation brief will be conveyed to the school management shortly.
