Vol. 516 No. 4

Written Answers. - Causeway Breach.

Ivor Callely

Question:

25 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the progress with the relevant studies and other issues in relation to the proposal to breach the causeway at Bull Island, Dollymount, Dublin 3; if his attention has been drawn to the huge public support and desire to breach the causeway over the past few years and the welcome of the funding from his Department for the relevant study; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [7755/00]

As the Deputy will be aware, my Department has approved grant aid for Dublin Corporation, at a rate of 75% and subject to a maximum of £112,500, towards the costs of a consultancy study of the effects of breaching the Bull Island causeway.

Dublin Corporation has advised my Department that the consultants to carry out the study will be appointed shortly.
