82 Ms Shortall asked the Minister for Health and Children if his attention has been drawn to the continuing lengthy delays in the accident and emergency department of Beaumont Hospital, Dublin; if he will seek an explanation from the hospital on the reason these delays are occurring; if he will support the hospital to address these serious delays as a matter of urgency arising from this investigation; and if he will make a statement on the matter. The matter raised by the Deputy became the responsibility of the Eastern Regional Health Authority on 1 March 2000. I have, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the ERHA to investigate the matter and reply directly to the Deputy.
