222 Ms O'Sullivan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government when he will make the regulations under section 34 of the Waste Management Act, 1996, dealing with the presentation and collection of rubbish; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [8513/00]
I intend shortly to make regulations under section 34 of the Waste Management Act, 1996 providing for the permitting by local authorities of commercial waste collectors.
Under section 35 of the Act, local authorities have power to make wide-ranging by-laws in relation to the presentation of waste for collection.
