Vol. 517 No. 1

Written Answers. - Rail Safety.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

110 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Public Enterprise if she has satisfied herself that adequate safety standards are met on the Sallins-Hazelhatch rail lines and stations in view of the recent report on rail safety; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [9327/00]

I have been advised by Iarnród Éireann that there are adequate safety standards on the Sallins-Hazelhatch rail lines and stations. Most of the matters identified by IRMS in its review of rail safety, in particular in relation to signalling issues, are already rectified. The remainder of the work is due to be completed by the end of the year.
