Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Tax Allowances.

Gay Mitchell

Question:

190 Mr. G. Mitchell asked the Minister for Finance if a person (details supplied) in Dublin 8 qualifies for any tax deduction. [10448/00]

I am informed by the Revenue Commissioners that, in addition to her normal tax free allowances, the taxpayer's daughter may be entitled to claim the dependent relative allowance in respect of her father if (a) she maintains her father at her own expense and (b) the father's income does not exceed £5,536 for the 2000-01 tax year. If the taxpayer's daughter wishes to claim the dependent relative allowance, she should contact the inspector of taxes at Unit 987, 14-15 Upper O'Connell Street, Dublin 1.
