230 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the steps, if any, he will take to have a person (details supplied) admitted to Longford Westmeath General Hospital for assessment by her consultant orthopaedic surgeon. [10483/00]

The provision of medical treatment to eligible persons in County Westmeath is the statutory responsibility of the Midland Health Board in the first instance. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the board to investigate this case and to reply to the Deputy directly as a matter of urgency.

231 Mr. Penrose asked the Minister for Health and Children the immediate steps, if any, he will take to have a person (details supplied) in County Longford admitted to the Mater Hospital for surgery as a matter of urgency. [10484/00]

The responsibility for the provision of services at the Mater Hospital is a matter for the Eastern Regional Health Authority in the first instance. My Department has asked the chief executive officer of the Authority to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply directly to him as a matter of urgency.
