Vol. 517 No. 6

Written Answers. - Fishing Vessel Licences.

John Perry

Question:

134 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources if a person (details supplied) in County Sligo will have the necessary certification issued with the quota established in view of the fact that all the necessary documentation for his fishing licence has been submitted; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [10847/00]

An application for a sea fishing boat licence has been received from the person concerned. A difficulty has arisen, however, as that person and the previous owner of the fishing boat in question are both claiming the beneficial ownership of the boat's capacity that is, tonnage and engine power, for licensing purposes. In these circumstances, I regret that it will not be possible to finalise the licence application from the person concerned unless he can provide appropriate evidence of ownership of the vessel's capacity, or he removes other capacity from the sea fishing boat register.
