Vol. 518 No. 1

Written Answers. - Hospital Waiting Lists.

David Stanton

Question:

138 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children the number awaiting assessment at the child guidance clinic at St. Finbarr's hospital, Cork; the average waiting time for routine assessments; the plans, if any, he has to provide additional resources for this centre; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11231/00]

The information requested on the numbers awaiting assessment at the child guidance clinic, St. Finbarr's Hospital and the average waiting time for routine assessment is not collected as a matter of routine by my Department. Accordingly, I have asked the chief executive officer of the Southern Health Board to investigate these matters and reply directly to the Deputy.

The Southern Health Board's development plan for child and adolescent psychiatry services provides for the recruitment of additional child and adolescent psychiatric teams. This year, my Department has provided a total of £310,000 additional revenue towards the development of child and adolescent psychiatry services in the Southern Health Board area, to enable the recruitment of a further two specialist multi-disciplinary teams.
