Vol. 518 No. 2

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Phil Hogan

Question:

102 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for the Environment and Local Government if he has received an application for a conservation grant from a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny; if the grant has been approved and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11258/00]

A scheme of grants for protected structures was introduced last year under the Local Government (Planning and Development) Act, 1999. The terms and conditions of the scheme are set out in my Department's Circular PD 5/99, a copy of which is being placed in the Oireachtas Library.

The administration of individual applications for grants is a matter for the relevant local authority. Where the local authority proposes to approve a grant in excess of the standard maximum it needs the approval of my Department. No such request has been received in relation to the case referred to by the Deputy.
