Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Closed Circuit Television Systems.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

194 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has received any request for the provision of a closed circuit television system in Celbridge, County Kildare; if he has or will consider the installation of such a system; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12274/00]

There is no record in my Department of any application being received for a Garda CCTV system in Celbridge.

I have also been advised by the Garda authorities that no application has been received by the advisory committee that was established by the Garda Commissioner to examine CCTV applications for a Garda CCTV system in Celbridge.

All applications for Garda CCTV systems must be prepared in co-operation with the local Garda district and divisional officers and receive their full support. They may then be considered by the advisory committee who will make a recommendation to me in this regard.
