Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Garda Recruitment.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

195 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if the application of a person (details supplied) in County Meath to join the Garda Síochána is valid or current; if he has been called for training; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12275/00]

My Department has no direct function in relation to the recruitment of individual gardaí.

Recruitment to the Garda Síochána is by open competition conducted by the Civil Service Commissioners. If the applicant wishes to clarify his position, he should contact that office.

It would not be appropriate for personal information on a candidate to be provided by way of a response to a parliamentary question.
