Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

John Bruton

Question:

216 Mr. J. Bruton asked the Minister for Education and Science if he will allocate funds to Longwood vocational school to enable it to construct a car park on the school grounds; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12181/00]

s): My Department has not received an application from County Meath VEC for a car park at Longwood vocational school.

Brian O'Shea

Question:

217 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Education and Science the capital projects financed by his Department which have commenced or will commence construction in the Waterford constituency during 2000; the amount involved in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12182/00]

The information requested by the Deputy is not available. The allocation of funding to capital projects depends on factors such as the rate of progress of architectural design, site acquisition, the granting of planning permission and the outcome of the tender competition. Delays can arise at any point in the process, consequently, it is not possible to say when projects being designed at present will proceed to construction.

If the Deputy requires information on individual building projects, I will be happy to provide the details.
