Ruairí Quinn

Question:

108 Mr. Quinn asked the Minister for Defence if he will list any public contracts awarded by his Department to a company (details supplied); the full list of such contracts; the purpose for which they were awarded; if the tax clearance requirements for public contracts were complied with in each case; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12251/00]

The firm referred to in the Deputy's question was engaged as public relations consultants by my Department during the period from 10 April 1992 to 12 January 1993. The standard arrangements relating to the deduction of withholding tax from payments for professional services were applied. The total amount paid to the company was £11,584, after the deduction of withholding tax. There is no record of a tax clearance certificate having been sought or received from the company.
