Vol. 518 No. 5

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Richard Bruton

Question:

126 Mr. R. Bruton asked the Minister for Finance if he will give details of the impact of his decentralisation proposals on public servants working in Dublin who do not wish to move; the negotiations he will conduct with representatives of staff; and the reasons these discussions have not yet commenced. [12294/00]

On the forthcoming decentralisation programme, I have no plans to depart from the long standing voluntary nature of decentralisation. I do not envisage, therefore, that there will be an adverse impact on those who wish to remain in Dublin. On consultations with the Civil Service unions, I am happy to assure them that they will be consulted at the appropriate time.
