Vol. 518 No. 6

Written Answers. - Judicial Appointments.

Jim Higgins

Question:

471 Mr. Higgins (Mayo) asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if he has satisfied himself that a judge (details supplied) had the necessary service as a solicitor in order to be appointed as a judge. [12571/00]

I can inform the Deputy that before this appointment was made in April 1989, the Department, as was normal at the time, first obtained written confirmation from the Law Society that the judge in question had the necessary service as a solicitor.
