226 Mr. Allen asked the Minister for Health and Children if he will make a statement on the rate of progress being made with regard to the introduction of a new enterprise liability agency to consolidate medical and legal insurance for hospitals and doctors working in them. [13605/00]
Discussions are continuing with the Department of Finance, the Attorney General's office and the National Treasury Management Agency – NTMA – on the scope for co-operation between the claims agency to be established under the aegis of the NTMA and the proposed agency to handle clinical negligence claims. When these discussions have concluded, I hope to be able to make a more definitive statement on the matter.
